Comic Widows Podcast Recordings |
THANK YOU, dear Comic Widow, for agreeing to be recorded for the pod. You are our favorite people! (don't tell anyone!)
"I need to schedule my interview. How do I do that?"
Use this link to find a time that works for you. Just you. Not your comic, and not with your comic. We want to hear from YOU for a change.
"I need to re-schedule my interview!"
Use the link on your confirmation email to reschedule. Or email us.
"What should I expect during the call?
We're really just going to have a nice time dishing on life in the shadow of a comic. Laura has a bunch of short, sometimes silly, questions to keep it lively, and we aim for 30-45 minutes. You should feel free to answer any way you like, and feel free to say “no comment!” I'll be introducing you separately, so on Zoom we'll just get started on the questions . Angel will be on the call as well as our sound engineer and co-producer and jumps into the conversation here and there. He is also our editor, and he will be making us sound great as well as editing out unnecessary bits and sneezes: he’s amazing at this!
The questions are meant to get at what it is like for you as a “comic widow,” ie someone who loves a standup comic. The audience is meant to be the “comedy curious:" People who want to know more about comedy, and comics, from a new angle.
"Is this audio only, or video?"
We record the audio via the Zoom video and you will see Laura and Angel on the screen. We do not publish the video.
"What do I need to do to make it sound great?"
Angel's tips
"Can I curse and be naughty or do I need to keep it clean?"
We publish a clean and an un-bleeped version separately, so you can cuss and say naughty things. The unbleeped version is available to members of our Patreon group. So, feel free to let it fly, but know that version will be out there to the public. The clean, bleeped version will the the one the public gets for free and may be overheard by children, so....
"When will this be published?"
The Comic Widows podcast comes out every two weeks or so. You will be emailed a rough cut of your interview in advance of your interview being published with this request: we want to publish a 1-5 sentence rebuttal from your comic after they hear it. Send us that audio file and we will add it to the end of the published show.
"Where will this be published?"
Podcasts are, like radio, available anywhere other podcasts are found: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and all the other phone apps and online sites. They are free to listen to. We will be sending you a link to YOUR episode, but you can subscribe to Comic Widows in advance (also rate and review!) by searching for Comic Widows on any podcast platform or just Google it! Here's a link where you can listen to previous episodes online.
Does my comic get to make that hilarious feedback quote at the end of the show?
Oh, heck, yeah. In fact, we insist! We will send you a recording of your interview as soon as we've done the rough editing (before we add in sounds and intros and such). We're then going to wait for you to RUN to them with is and play it excitedly to listen to it together. Have your phone ready to record their audio reaction, or click HERE to have them record the audio on our voicemail.
"Can you give the listeners links to my bio and my comic's bio?"
Glad you asked! We very much want to promote you and your comic. Send these links to us before the interview, please!
This is SUCH an amazing concept and How can I support the podcast?
THANK YOU, yes, please! Follow us on socials: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter. Send us emails/messages about your upcoming events in DMV. Nominate another "comic widow" for an interview. Join our Patreon group for insider info and unbleeped episodes.
SO looking forward to this!
Any questions?

"What do I need to do to make it sound great?"
Angel's tips
- When doing the interview please pick a location that is the quietest while still maintain a strong internet connection.
- The best recording scenario would be using a laptop/desktop, being connected via Ethernet, using a separate mic, headphones, and a quiet environment. Not everyone has all those so the most basic need would be a device with video capabilities, a place where your internet is strongest, and headphones.
- Please choose a room that is either the same as where your router is or as close as possible to the router. Place the laptop/tablet/phone in a fixed location that captures the top of your head and shoulders.
- Before joining us on zoom shutdown and restart your video device. We will do a sound test so silence your phone and any other devices that make noise.
